ummmm....I'm talking about makeup. Where is your mind at?
I got asked the other day if I do makeup as well as hair. Unfortunately I don't, and it's not that I don't want to but rather, I don't have the time to learn, train, and bring that service to you all. Maybe someday.....when hours get added to my daily life.
I once worked a bridal party that had 2 mua's (makeup artists) on-site and on the way out I struck up a convo in the elevator with one of them. I had watched him flawlessly apply, adhere, and layer art on these ladies faces and I wanted to be a part of that.
"Where did you train?", I asked.
"MAC", he said
Then he recommended if I want to become an mua to get a side gig at a makeup counter because thats the best way to learn...um, yeah, I believe the phrase is "aint nobody got time for that" (and by nobody I mean me. Obviously somebody had time or we wouldn't have any mua's, amirite?!) I don't even have time to put my own makeup on in the morning!
Remember, I'm old. I've done this for awhile. The story above took place a few years ago. Fast forward to now...
To a time where makeup has taken a left turn...
To a trend that I can not only get behind, but I could actually do!...
To the look of a fresh naked face and simplicity...
Christiana Aguilara's cover on Paper magazine and her make under. Check this out people. Less makeup and she looks younger!
Meghan Markle and her stunningly simple bridal look. Forget that I'm obsessed with all things royal. She genuinely looks ahhhmazing!
And that fact that people are actually tattooing freckles on their faces. Can we take a second to talk about this please. I've spent all of my life loving my freckles and trying to find a foundation that wouldn't hide them. This freckle trend is my life long dream come true!
I LOVE THIS TREND!!!
Peace out contouring. You sucked hours from my life that I will never get back.
Hello mineral based makeup and an embrace of all my flaws and wrinkles.
And this doesn't stop at makeup....
Capsule wardrobes have been gaining popularity. The idea of paring down your wardrobe with basics and accessories that can be mixed and matched. Needing much less clothes to make many more outfits.
In the hair color world it's that "lived in look" that's popular. Balayage highlights to give a seamless grow out and appears as if you've been hanging outside and getting sunkissed (freckles and sun kissed hair. Helllloooo?! That's my favorite combo).
Color melts made to slowly transition from one color to the next allowing your new growth to be less noticeable.
Beach waves and low maintenance bobs.
Even fashion colors are being formulated to start out as a darker more jewel toned version thats able to fade into a beautiful pastel.
The whole beauty industry seems to be paring down and simplifying and I'm loving every bit of it.
What do you think? Do you enjoy this low maintenance trend?
